Bernard Rice! Skyscraper!

Shit, zu teuer... zu selten... wow: This American art deco silverplate on copper and brass water pitcher was designed by Louis W. Rice forBernard Rice’s Sons in 1928. The pitcher, with its stepped-up top and “black smokestack handles” is from the Skyscraper line of the Apollo Studios Division. The pitcher is 9 7/8” tall. It is pictured in Alastair Duncan’s book American Art Deco and Charlotte & Peter Fiell’s book 20’s Decorative Art.

This American art deco silverplate on copper and brass cocktail shaker and two cups were designed by Louis W. Rice for Bernard Rice’s Sons in 1928. The shaker with its stepped up top and “black smokestacks for handles”, along with the two wedge shaped cups are all from the Skyscraper line of the Apollo Studios Division. All three pieces bear the manufacturer’s marks. The shaker is 11 ½” tall and the cups are 3 3/8” high.
